How to Install Verity Mod on Java (Forge 1.20.1)

Create a clean Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge profile, add the compatible dependencies, place Verity JE 5.7.4 in that instance and test the AI connection separately.

Instructions checked August 22, 2026 against the stable Verity JE 5.7.4 record. Betas are not the default installation target.

Stable Java file for this guideVerity JE 5.7.4 · Forge · Minecraft 1.20.1 · GeckoLib + YACL

Use a separate Forge instance and record the published SHA-1.

Before you begin: match Minecraft, Forge and Java

Use the exact Forge 1.20.1 instance that will launch the game. Start it once, close Minecraft, and open that instance’s folder from the launcher. Put Verity JE 5.7.4, compatible GeckoLib and compatible YACL in the same mods directory; do not extract the JARs.

A clean profile separates loader errors from connection errors. Keep a backup or disposable test world and note the Project ID, filename and SHA-1 before changing a valued save.

  • Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1.
  • A Forge profile for the same Minecraft version.
  • Verity JE 5.7.4 plus compatible GeckoLib and YACL JARs.
  • A backup or disposable test world.
  • The Project ID, filename and published SHA-1.

Install Verity Mod Java step by step

Create the Forge 1.20.1 profile, add the three required JARs, launch once and confirm that the Mods screen lists them. Then create a test world before adding unrelated mods.

If the project updates, record the old file and the new release separately. Do not replace a working installation while testing a beta; use a second instance so you can return to a known-good state.

Configure dependencies and the AI connection

Use the project’s current setup instructions for the selected AI provider. Test text interaction before microphone, voice or multiplayer so a remote-service issue is not confused with a loader issue.

When the Mods screen shows Verity and the game reaches a world, the loader and basic file placement are probably working. A failed response can instead come from provider configuration, an expired key, an unavailable endpoint, network policy or permission.

Separate loader and dependency checks from AI connection troubleshooting.

Fix common errors without mixing files

The first split is whether the game fails before the menu, during world creation or after the mod tries to connect. Read the first concrete log error, remove unrelated mods and keep the profile stable while testing.

Use a new world and keep a backup of any important save. Test the base launch, then the Verity screen, then the AI connection, and finally voice or multiplayer. This order makes the failure boundary visible.

  • Wrong Minecraft or Forge version.
  • GeckoLib or YACL missing or incompatible.
  • JAR placed in a different instance folder.
  • Remote AI provider, endpoint or key unavailable.
  • Microphone permission or audio-device failure.

How to install Verity Mod on Java FAQ

What version does this Java guide target?

This guide targets the verified stable Verity JE 5.7.4 release for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge. Newer beta records are not the default target.

Where do I put the Verity JAR?

Put verity-5.7.4.jar in the mods directory of the Forge 1.20.1 instance that will actually launch the game. Do not assume the global .minecraft folder is active.

Do I need GeckoLib and YACL?

The current stable setup records GeckoLib and YACL as required dependencies. Use versions compatible with the same Forge and Minecraft profile.

Why does Verity launch but not answer?

The mod can be installed correctly while the AI provider, API key, endpoint, network or permissions are unavailable. Test text interaction and keep the first error.

Can I install a beta over the stable profile?

Use a separate instance. A beta can change configuration or behavior, and replacing a working profile makes rollback harder.
